Troian Bellisario on Opening Up About Her Anorexia: "It Was Important for Me to Tell the Truth"

Sasha Pieterse, Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario and Shay Mitchell - The Talk (21 June 2016)

Troian Bellisario has publicly discussed her battle with eating disorders several times, first in a 2014 interview with Seventeen and more recently in a November voting PSA.

Ihad spoken out to Seventeen magazine because they asked me, What was your life like when you were 17? And I thought to myself, Well, you could either lie or you could tell them the truth," Bellisario, 31, told PEOPLE whilehosting fansatthebrandnewDisneySprings OrlandoOriginsshop.

It was really important for me to tell the truth because there are so many young women and men who watch Pretty Little Liars, she continues.I didnt want to exclude them from my story, which I think is a really positive story because I sought treatment, because I was supported by my friends and family, and I was able to get back to a healthy place.

The actress feels being honest is even more important these days, when young women and girls are flooded with images of perfect bodies on social media.

My message would be especially with social media dont believe what you see at all, she says. There are lots of apps you can get on your phone that can change the way your face looks and the way your body looks. Were setting the bar at a very different place for what people think is a regular photo.

Its sort of curated in a way that could create a false ideal for a womans body or a mans body, she continues. I think its really dangerous territory.

Bellisario says she hopes people will learn to not let the images affect how they see themselves.

Treat them as you would if you looked at a magazine stand. You dont know which one of these has been Photoshopped, you dont know which one of these has been altered, she says. Its important to look at them as beautiful images, but as not necessarily entirely accurate all the time.

Men charged in East Bay highway shooting that killed mother

Two of four men suspected in a highway shooting that killed a San Francisco woman and injured her passenger as they drove in the East Bay in May have been charged with murder, prosecutors said Thursday.

The Contra Costa County district attorneys office charged 26-year-old Marcus Gaines and 22-year-old Kevin Carter with murder, attempted murder and conspiracy, along with gang and street terrorism enhancements, among other special allegations. They were arrested Wednesday at an Antioch home on Johnson Drive.

The two outstanding suspects, 21-year-old Damario Pitteard and 25-year-old Corey McCroey, face the same charges in addition to illegal possession of firearms because of prior felony convictions. Warrants have been issued for their arrests.

The slaying in Pittsburg came amid a rash of highway shootings in the East Bay that authorities believed to be part of larger street gang battles.

The shooting was as a result of an ongoing gang-related dispute with subjects from the San Francisco area, Pittsburg police said in a statement.

Capt. Ron Raman, a police spokesman, said the investigation was challenging and required persistence by detectives who didnt let any leads go unturned.

In a case like this, cars are speeding. Evidence can be lost. ... Ive got to stress the fact that not a lot of people were cooperating, he said.

On May 11, police officers were called to a rollover crash on Highway 4 just before 11 a.m. and didnt realize it was a shooting until they arrived at the scene.

When they got to the westbound lanes near the Railroad Avenue overpass they found the wrecked car, with the woman partially ejected from the drivers seat, suffering from gunshot wounds to the rear torso, and the man standing outside the car with a gunshot wound to his left hand.

The woman was later identified as Shanique Marie, a 25-year-old San Francisco resident and mother of several young children. She died at a nearby hospital.

Police havent said who among the four suspects was the shooter, but the district attorneys office intends to prosecute all of them for murder. All were believed to have been following the victims before the shooting.

Pitteard and McCroey should be considered armed and dangerous, said police, who asked anyone with information on their whereabouts to call (925) 646-2441.

Finish Line proves again how hard it is to diversify | 2016-12-08 ...

Yasmin - "Finish Line" (Official Video)

From the humblest of beginnings, The Finish Line Inc. now boasts 980 locations in U.S. malls and inside Macys department stores. Its a success story that would have seemed unfathomable back in 1976, when three basketball buddies started the business by opening an Athletes Foot franchise on then-sleepy Monument Circle.

Perhaps magic like that can only strike once, because the companys efforts to build other retail concepts in the years since have failed miserablymost recently with Finish Lines JackRabbit chain of specialty running shoe stores.

We are at the dawn of what we believe to be a very exciting opportunity in this business, then-CEO Glenn Lyon declared in 2011 after the company launched the division by buying an 18-store chain for $8.5 million. In the years that followed, it pumped tens of millions of dollars more into acquisitions, ultimately building a chain with 70 stores and more than $90 million in revenue.

But JackRabbit has continued to lose money, and in mid-November, Finish Line officially reversed course and put the chain on the sale block. At the same time, it announced a $44 million noncash impairment charge to write down the value of the business.

That write-down might be just the start, Buckingham Research Group analysts Scott Krasik and Matthew Gulmi said in a report.

Referring to the company by its ticker symbol, they wrote: We are unsure that FINL will be able to sell JackRabbit given 1) no history of profitability 2) weak secular trends in performance running and 3) a disjointed business model too small to scale but too large to manage.

The most likely outcome of the process, in our view, will be that FINL will be forced to close most, if not all of its JackRabbit stores and take additional cash charges.

A Finish Line spokeswoman said the company could not comment because it is in the Securities and Exchange Commission-mandated quiet period leading up to the announcement of its fiscal third-quarter earnings on Dec. 21.

This is the fourth time Finish Line has made a sizable bet on diversification only to be left nursing its wounds.

The first stumble occurred with the 37-store hip-hop outfitter Man Alive, which the company bought for $12 million in 2005. It expanded the store base to nearly 100 outposts before unloading the perennial money-loser in 2009 and taking an $18 million pretax charge.

Next up was Paiva, a fitness and fashion-apparel chain catering to upscale women that the company launched from scratch in April 2006. The concept never gained the expected tractionthere even was consumer confusion over how to pronounce the nameand in September 2007 Finish Line pulled the plug on the 15 stores and took a $13 million pretax charge.

In 2007, Finish Line made by far its biggest diversification bet, agreeing to buy Nashville, Tennessee-based Genesco Inc. for $1.5 billion. Genesco, which was more than twice Finish Lines size, owns a long list of retail chains, including Zionsville-based Lids Sports Group.

Almost as soon as the deal was announced, sales for both companies softened, spawning a dispute over whether Finish Line and its lender, Swiss giant UBS, should be forced to close on the purchase. To opt out of the deal, Finish Line paid Genesco $39 million in cash and handed over stock worth $25 million.

Now that the JackRabbit diversification has gone south as well, analysts are eager to see it disappear so that executives can concentrate on beefing up finish lines brick-and-mortar and e-commerce sales.

There are a lot of positives in the Finish Line pipelinemany of them driven by a new store design. The company began rolling out the format this summer in Chicago and expects to have 50 locations converted by the end of this year.

The new format better showcases top brands, which has allowed Finish Line to get larger allocations of the most popular products, Deutsche Bank analyst Paul Trussell said in a report. He said stores with the new format are seeing weekly sales 50 percent to 100 percent higher than those of unconverted stores.

Same-store sales of Finish Lines brick-and-mortar stores have been close to flat over the last 10 years while those of archrival Foot Locker climbed in the mid-single digits, Trussell said. So theres lots of room for improvement.

FINL is, at its core, a mall-based athletic specialty retailer, not a performance running retailer, he said in a report. We believe jettisoning the JackRabbit performance running business would help FINL more clearly define its identity in the marketplace while providing a needed focus on improving the core Finish Line business.

Maren Morris to Appear on "SNL" Dec. 10 | NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Maren Morris - Once (Live from RCA Studio A)

2016 has been a year to remember for country singer Maren Morris.

The girl who grew up a shy kid in Arlington is now country music"s break-out star propelled to new heights with her hit "My Church" and the album "Hero".

Morris, 26, won the 2016 CMA Award for New Artist of the Year and is now up for four Grammy nominations: Best New Artist, Best Country Album for "Hero", Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for "My Church."

"I was at home in Nashville, and I found out like everyone else did, super early in the morning, that I was up for four, and I was in utter shock," Morris told NBC DFW on the phone.

"I mean, especially after the CMAs last month, going into Grammy nominations; its like across the board. Its such a huge honor. So, that was so cool to wake up and have that news and get to be in my own home, in my own bed for once, and really get to soak that news in."

Being at her home in Nashville, where she now lives is a luxury these days.

"You dont realize until youre on the road so much, that thats the hardest job, the hardest part of the job. Im so lucky to get to see amazing places but I think I like slept in my bed four times last month," she said. "So, when Im home I definitely like to enjoy it and see friends, then get back out there and play shows. So, Im starting to find a balance, I think."

Morris will play another big show Saturday night on NBC 5 when she"ll perform as the musical guest on SNL.

Her website says, "Morris is the first Country Music artist to perform on the current 2016/2017 season of Saturday Night Live, the shows 42nd season."

"Its funny, I feel like Ive played every NBC show this year," Morris said. "Ive done Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers and its crazy to be going back to do SNL because its such a rare opportunity for a country artist."

"So, yeah, it came in so last minute, and I thought if I ever did SNL it would be way down the line but honestly, I feel so lucky to end my crazy year of 2016 on that note. Its such a legendary thing to do," she said.

As crazy as it gets, Morris knows when it"s time to get back to her roots, back to Texas and back to her fans and family.

"Im playing March 23 in Dallas, actually, at the House of Blues. So, Ill be there. Then, Im obviously coming home for Christmas, but thats going to be my first official show back in Texas," she told us.

The show at the House of Blues is one of the stops on Morris" first-ever headline tour.

The Hero Tour 2017 kicks off Feb. 2 in New York City with a stop in Dallas on March 23. In between is the Grammy Awards where Morris could bring home four of the coveted awards. But before she hits the road, Morris will be back in Arlington, home with her family for Christmas with and wishes fulfilled.

"In a very real sense, everythings already been granted and I feel like the older you get, the harder it is to ask for things or think of things you want. I like really thoughtful gifts, so Im the same way with what I buy for my friends and family. I asked my sister for a Game Boy for Christmas. I want it to sit in airports and play Super Mario. So, we try to think of goofy things like that," she said.

When Morris packed her bags and moved from Arlington to Nashville, she told her parents she"d give it a year and if it didn"t work out, she"d come home.

The career worked out in ways even Morris finds hard to grasp.

"Its been too crazy for words," she said.

"Honestly, my head is spinning all the time especially after this week. Its been so amazing and wonderful to gain all these fans and get to play these amazing places around the country. Its like a dream I had. Its so cool to see it all finally coming true.

Oakland fire: Refrigerator ruled out as cause,

EASTBAY SOLD ME FAKE TROPHY 8"s RANT!!!

OAKLAND Federal investigators have ruled out a refrigerator as the cause of the fatal Ghost Ship fire, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms official said Friday, but agents still suspect the cause of the inferno may have been electrical.

Everything else electrical in the scene is still being looked at, said Jill Snyder, special agent in charge of the ATFs San Francisco office. She said investigators examined the refrigerator first, following media reports that Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern said it may have been the cause of the nations deadliest fire in 13 years. Thirty-six people died.

Members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives setup equipment outside the Fruitvale district warehouse known as the Ghost Ship, that burned in a three-alarm fire last Friday claiming 36 lives, in Oakland, Calif., on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016. ATF continues their investigation into the cause of the fire. (Anda Chu/Bay Area News Group)

Forensic mapping specialists will be working throughout the weekend, taking photos and measuring distances to recreate the scene to try to determine the origin of the fire, Snyder said. But shecautioned that the cause may never be determined.

Investigators suspect that the blaze may have begun near the refrigerator in the rear of the warehouse, Snyder said. Outlets, power cords, anything that could be a possible source of ignition that could be in that area is being combed through. She said investigators are still tracing electrical wires throughout the building, but dont have a diagram yet.

Warehouse owner Chor Ng also owns the building next door, which has storefronts on both 31st Avenue and International Boulevard, records show. All of the electricity in the Ghost Ship came through a single meter that was shared with neighboring stereo and mobile phone shops, according to City Councilman Noel Gallo.

JakeJacobitz, who did electrical work at the warehouse and occasionally stayed there, said electrical breakers atthe collective blew out frequently. He calls himself an electrician, but there is no listing for a person with that last name having a state electricians certificate from the California Department of Labor.

Jacobitzsaid Derick Almena, the groups leader, installed his own electrical boxes, even when Jacobitz offered to do it.

All of the Ghost Ships power came from a single line punched through a wall, where it was then tapped by anyone who needed it, Jacobitz said.

The ground floor of the building was a maze of small live-work spaces for artists. The upper floor, where many of the victims attending a dance party died, was a performance space.

Gallo, who was there a week ago when the power was cut off after the fire, said he saw the same setup. There was one meter feeding the whole warehouse operation, he said.

The property owner (received) the bill so she would come to the artists; she would come to the mechanics shop; and she would come to the other little shops, Gallo said. She would say based on the bill I got you owe $200 this month, you owe me $300 and based on the bill you owe $50.

She knew all the activity that was going on, Gallo said of Ng, who he repeatedly said this week bears much of the responsibility for the inferno.

A Pacific Gas and Electric spokeswomansaid this week that the utility reviewed 10-plus years of records and have no reports of electricity theft or any anomalies from this location or the adjacent premises.

Ngs daughter Eva, who has spoken for her since the fire, didnt return a phone call Friday.

ATF is acting in an advisory role to the Oakland Fire Department, as the Alameda County District Attorneys Office conducts a criminal investigation.

The Bay Area News Group reported Thursday that the building, once a milk bottling plant, was not in Oaklands database of commercial buildings that require yearly fire safety checks and there are no records showing that the building ever underwent a routine fire inspection.

Friday marked the fifth day that Mayor Libby Schaafs administration did not release any Fire Department records about the building despite repeated requests from this news organization and others.

GOP senators challenge Trump on secretary of state prospect"s Russia ties

Pakistani Ship Reached in Russia

Sen. Marco Rubio and other GOP senators fired a warning shot this weekend over President-elect Donald Trumps consideration of ExxonMobil Chairman Rex Tillerson for secretary of state, raising concerns about the global energy titans reported Russian ties.

Tillerson is thought to be a favorite for the position of top U.S. diplomat and met again with the president-elect in New York on Saturday, though Trump would not confirm his selection in an interview with Fox News Sunday. The president-elect said only that hes getting very, very close to an announcement.

But Rubio, who ran unsuccessfully for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination and later endorsed Trump, posted a thinly veiled warning about Tillerson on Twitter Sunday morning, without mentioning him by name.

Tillerson is reported to have close ties to russia. democrats already have seized on the accounts, with the Democratic National Committee preemptively declaring such a choice another victory for Vladimir Putin.

Republicans have taken a more measured but still cautious approach.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Armed Services Committee, told Fox News on Saturday that Putin is a thug and while he doesnt know the nature of Tillersons relationship with the Russian leader, its a matter of concern.

Speaking Sunday with CBS News Face the Nation, McCain said the Senate would give him a fair hearing and noted Tillersons ties could be strictly commercial.

But he reiterated that it should be a matter of concern. He voiced concern that Tillersons relationship could color his approach toward Putin and the Russian threat.

Amid the bipartisan debate, Trump tweeted late Sunday morning: Whether I choose him or not for State- Rex Tillerson, the Chairman & CEO of ExxonMobil, is a world class player and dealmaker. Stay tuned!

The Wall Street Journalreported last week on Tillersons ties to Putin and other world leaders.

Under his leadership, Exxon has steadily expanded its Russian business even as rivals faced expropriation and regulatory obstacles.

In 2011, Tillerson announced an expansive relationship with Russia"s Rosneft that will spend years and billions of dollars developing technology to explore and produce oil and gas in icy waters in the Russian Arctic. In 2013, Putin bestowed the Order of Friendship on Tillerson.

Trump, though, still has not announced his choice for the State Department job.

Trump told Fox News Sunday that he has others as candidates for the post, while lauding Tillersons record.

He"s much more than a business executive.I mean, he"s a world-class player. He"s in charge of an oil company that"s pretty much double the size of his next serious competitor. It"s been a company that"s been unbelievably managed. And to me, a great advantage is he knows many of the players, and he knows them well.He does massive deals in Russia. He does massive deals for the company -- not for himself -- for the company, Trump said. I have tremendous respect for him.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told Fox News Sunday Morning Futures that Tillerson would be a smart pick.

Noting that experts in the State Department would be on hand to assist the next secretary, McCarthy said Tillerson has an understanding of what world leaders are looking for and knows what buttons kind of push them.

Speaking on ABC News This Week, incoming Trump chief of staff Reince Priebus also defended Tillerson as an incredible businessman and American patriot.

While noting a conclusion has not been made, he stressed that Tillerson is in the business of finding oil around the world, and said the fact that he actually has a relationship with people like Vladimir Putin and others across the globe is something that [we] shouldn"t be ... embarrassed by.

Asked about tough questions from Republican senators, he said, We don"t have concerns about confirmation.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Television|"The d**k Van d**e Show" in Color? See It on Sunday

He may be 90-years-old, but Dick Van Dyke still has the moves! The Emmy-winning actor
Photo Mary tyler moore and d**k van d**e star in The d**k Van d**e Show. Two colorized episodes including Thats My Boy??, above will be broadcast on CBS on Sunday. Credit CBS

On Sunday, colorization is coming to one of televisions great comedies, The d**k Van d**e Show, and perhaps grousing will be heard in some quarters from holdouts who still object to mucking with black-and-white classics. Me, Im looking forward to it. Ive seen these episodes many times before, but the color at least based on the excerpts Ive seen wakes them up.

CBS is devoting an hour of prime time to two of the seriess finest installments, and it would be hard to come up with a better pair of episodes from any 1960s sitcom. Thats My Boy??, the Season 3 premiere in September 1963, is a tour de force for Mr. Van d**e, whose Rob Petrie character relates a story about the time he convinced himself that he and Laura Mary Tyler Moores character had brought the wrong baby home from the hospital. Coast to Coast Big Mouth, the Season 5 opener two years later, gives Ms. Moore the spotlight: Laura, appearing on a nationally televised quiz show, is tricked into revealing that Robs boss, the vain Alan Brady (star of the fictional Alan Brady Show), wears a toupee.

The epic comic confrontation in Coast to Coast Big Mouth in which Ms. Moore tries to stammer out an apology as Carl Reiners Alan Brady, surrounded by his now useless toupees, rages simply looks more alive when Lauras hat and dress are deep red. Both episodes were written by Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, and their scripts have a timelessness that colorization complements. That, said Mr. Reiner, who created the series, was by design.

Assiduously when doing that show, I stayed away from slang, he said. I had a feeling this show was going to last a long time. I didnt want to hear anything that dates it.

It also helps that colorization is much more sophisticated than it once was. When the technique first came into wide use in the 1980s, the results were often hard to look at unnatural and distracting and the outrage was loud and widespread. By the time CBS began applying colorization to I Love Lucy a few years ago, the complaints had faded considerably, though purists still voice their displeasure occasionally under YouTube excerpts. Stanton Rutledge, who oversaw the colorization for the d**k Van d**e episodes, said digital tools and other improvements have made a big difference in quality and thus in acceptance.

For this project, he said he began by listening for any color references in the dialogue when Alan mocked Robs striped tie in the toupee episode, did he mention a color? (He didnt.) He then developed concepts for the various scenes that quiz show is loud; Alans office, subdued and then ran them by the ultimate authorities, Mr. Reiner and Mr. Van d**e.

When Id send them color stills of the design I was working on, they were like, Yes; thats exactly what it looked like, he said. Then a team of artists would apply those color schemes to high-definition versions of the source film.

I spent more time on Marys outfits because I grew up being in love with her as a kid, Mr. Rutledge confessed. In that apology scene, he was unable to determine the original color of Lauras dress, so he could have made it navy blue, or deep green, or purple. The red dress just popped out to me more than some of the others, he said. Not a cherry red, but it was I cant even put a name to it, but it looked good on her.

The dress is indeed striking, but not too striking. The ultimate goal, Mr. Rutledge said, is that you can watch the show and not even think about it being colorized.

Colorization was once so inflammatory a subject that Congress addressed it in the National Film Preservation Act of 1988. There are still vigorous discussions, especially on social media, but they are less about putting the genie back in the bottle and more about the hows and whys.

It is becoming more accepted in a lot of applications, said Dana Keller, who has a business colorizing still photographs, History in Color. The tools are better, and so are the artists, he said.

They are using their skills to eliminate the distraction of colorization as being an obvious alteration, he said in an email interview, and as a result, bring these historical scenes to life with a natural realism that hopefully connects the viewer to the past in a new way.

He also suggested that while tinkering with film or photography in which an artist chose to work in black and white is understandably a sensitive issue, colorizing something that was black and white out of practical necessity (like a rapidly produced sitcom) is less of a flash point.

I think the risk of offending is a bit lower, he said. On the other hand, depending on who you ask, some people can view a colorized historical photo as a blatant misrepresentation of history or deliberate violation of a historical record. But, clearly, you cant please everybody, no matter how well done a colorization is.

Mr. Reiner said it actually became possible for The d**k Van d**e Show to switch to color during its five-season run, but he stuck with black and white for that most basic of reasons.

We realized it would cost like $16,000 a show, he said, and we would never have gotten profits from the series.
