84 Lumber Super Bowl Commercial – Complete The Journey
It was a building materials company that made what will likely prove to be one of the most controversial or at least talked-about ads from Sunday night"s Super bowl game. the commercial, made by 84 Lumber, tells the story of a Hispanic mother and daughter making the treacherous journey north to the United States. The story was initially rejected by Fox for being "too controversial for T.V.," forcing the company to edit it and cut it down.
The full version, which clocks in at over five minutes, is now available online. It"s striking, sweet, and, yes, political, featuring imposing shots of a certain hypothetical wall.
Following the ad"s release, traffic to 84 Lumber"s website was so intense that the site crashed, People reported. According to its website, 84 Lumber is "the nations leading privately held supplier of building materials, building supplies, manufactured components and industry-leading services for single- and multi-family residences and commercial buildings. The company is headquartered outside of Pittsburgh and operates more than 250 stores across the U.S.
The longest day on TV has returned, and not many things have changed.
Sure, Jack Bauer is now Eric Carter, Kiefer Sutherland is now Corey Hawkins, and it"s now 2017 instead of the early 2000s, butnot much else has changed. 24 is still obviously 24, colon or no colon, down to the clock, the split screens, and that oh-so-familiar 24 transition noise.
Tonight"s premiere of Legacy introduced us to Eric, an ex-Army ranger who hates terrorism, and who also happens to be the target of a bunch of terrorists who want revenge for a major death the ranger squad was responsible for. Everyone in his squad has been murdered, along with their families, but thanks to his quick thinking, his gun skills, and his friends in the CTU,that most likely will not happen to him.
That first hour of Eric being chased by men with vaguely foreign accents felt so very 24 that it was both comforting and almost a little boring. Here are just a few of the things we"re pretty sure we"ve seen before:
The hero"s got marriage issues: Eric"s wife Nicole (Anna Diop) started taking her birth control again, after she stopped for two weeks. He thought she was ready for a kid. She thinks he"s been acting strange since he came back to the US after his tour of duty, and she"s tired of all this running and hiding they"ve been doing. Now, she"s angry that she has to go hang out with Eric"s drug kingpin brother while he runs away from terrorists all day!Jack Bauer"s job put quite a bit of stress on his marriage to Teri, too...
There"s another mole!CTU"s many moles were often the big problem on the original 24, and now there seems to be another one who gave up the names and locations of all of Eric"s squad to the terrorist group.It could be Teddy Sears, and if it"s not (or even if he is), he"s going to be pretty unhappy when he wakes up from being tased by Miranda Otto...
The teens are at it again: Apparently we"ve learned nothing from the trials and tribulations of Kim Bauer (Elisha Cuthbert), and someone still thinks teens make sense as a major subplot. A vaguely accented teen girl is being accused of a terrorist plot by some brave boy at school, and somehow, her teacher/boyfriend is involved. Not sure where this is going, but can we all agree it"s a little weird?
There"s a new comedic sidekick: Goodbye Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), hello Andy (Dan Bucatinsky). We love Bucatinsky and we love a little comedy in our dramas, but it"s going to be hard for Andy to fill Chloe"s much-loved shoes.
Keep your politics close: Of course Miranda Otto"s characterRebecca, the retiring head of the CTUis married to the guy running for president (Jimmy Smits). Politics and political conflicts of interest are 24"s bread and butter, and we can only imagine how convenient that campaign will be for this new series.
The bad guys look familiar:Even all these years later,most of the bad guys are still unfortunate stereotypes. Some things really never change. Hopefully all is not as it seems?
Eric"s good with a gun: Eric"s no Jack Bauer (yet), but the action is certainly not missing from this reboot. That fight around (and under) that bit rolling pipe felt very Indiana Jones, and we were digging it.
While so far it still feels a little bit like we"re waiting for Kiefer Sutherland to show up, this show has all the potential to be just as loved as the original 24. The elements are certainly present. We justthink we need to see more.

The commercial, which features a love story between a puppy and a Clydesdale horse, was ranked the highest for both women and men in a list of the most-watched commercials during the Super Bowl, according to data analyzed by TiVo. The analysis showed that emotional advertisements with kids and animals were the most liked amongst all demographics.
HOUSTON One of the topics of conversation that dominated the week in the lead-up to Super Bowl LI Sunday night at NRG Stadium other than what halftime histrionics Lady Gaga had planned for the intermission was legacy.
Tom Bradys legacy.
The Patriots quarterback was trying to set an NFL record with his fifth Super Bowl title and cement himself as the greatest of all time, not only at his position but pretty much any position.
But for three quarters, it looked like it was Falcons quarterback matt ryan, not brady, that was going to send his reputation into a different stratosphere.
Ryan, who helped build a stunning 28-3 lead over the Patriots, appeared poised to deliver the city of Atlanta its first Super Bowl championship in the franchises 51-year history.
Bradys legacy was going to be secure, even with a loss.
Ryan was coming off a career-best regular season that included 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions, but he needed this win a lot more than Brady did as far as his legacy was concerned.
On Saturday night, Ryan had beaten out Brady for the league MVP honors. One night later, though, a furious, record-shattering comeback engineered by Brady that ended in a frenetic, scintillating 34-28 overtime New England victory left Ryan crushed and his legacy standing in place.
Thats a tough loss, Ryan said. Obviously, very disappointed, very close to getting done what we wanted to get done. Its hard to find words tonight.
Ryan had been brilliant, completing 17-of-23 for 284 yards, two touchdowns and a 144.1 passer rating. Through three quarters, he was 13-of-16 for 202 yards, two touchdowns and a perfect 158.3 passer rating.
Ryan leading Atlanta to a Super Bowl title would have changed everything for him. A win Sunday night would have put him on the fast track to the Hall of Fame.
Before Saturday, only one quarterback in NFL history had won a league MVP and a Super Bowl and was not in the Hall of Fame. That man was Kurt Warner, who was voted into the Hall on Saturday.
So, well, you can do the math. Now that math means nothing.
It means nothing because Ryan and the Falcons failed to finish when they had the chance to bury the Patriots late in the fourth quarter, when Ryan and the Falcons took possession of the ball with 5:53 remaining in regulation clinging to a 28-20 lead.
Ryan hit Devonta Freeman for a 39-yard catch-and-run on the first play of the series. Then he made what looked like it might be the pass of his life a 27-yard on-the-run strike to Julio Jones on the right sideline for a first down at the New England 22.
An Atlanta field goal and the game is over, too far out of reach for even Brady.
But Ryan took a killer sack for a 12-yard loss to the New England 35.

I could have done a better job trying to get rid of the ball, Ryan said.
Then Jake Matthews, the Falcons top-flight left tackle, was called for a holding penalty on the next play.
As a lineman on offense, we put that on ourselves, Matthews said. We have to extend our lead and win it, and it didnt work out that way. It sucks.
After the sack and holding penalty, the Falcons were out of field-goal range, and as it turned out, they were out of gas, too. They were forced to punt, and you know the rest.
Ryan, for the balance of his nine years in the NFL, had been a lot more Matty Nice than Matty Ice, the nickname he acquired at Boston College for the remarkable 25 fourth-quarter comebacks he engineered there. To some degree, Ryan perpetuated that nickname with his 33 game-winning drives with the Falcons.

But just as the worlds best golfers are judged by how many major championships they win, quarterbacks are measured by their postseason success, specifically how many Super Bowls they win.
Ryan began this postseason with a 1-4 playoff record. He was poised to go 3-0 this postseason while leaving three Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Seattles Russell Wilson (in the NFC divisional playoff), Green Bays Aaron Rodgers (in the NFC Championship) and Brady in his wake.
Until Brady changed everything and left Ryan to start all over again next season.
So Ryans legacy remains on hold until further notice (read: a Super Bowl victory).
And Bradys legacy, the thing we all were talking about all week, is set in granite.
The schools ranked second, third, fifth, sixth and eighth in Saturday"s Top 25 (and one) all lost in the past 24 hours. It was one of the wildest days I can remember.
Meantime, Gonzaga won again.
The Zags improved to 24-0 with a 90-55 victory over Santa Clara. And you could argue their resume also got a boost thanks to Iowa State"s surprising win at Kansas because that means Gonzaga now has a victory over the team that snapped KU"s 54-game home winning streak, which means Gonzaga now has wins over Arizona, Florida and Saint Mary"s - plus a win over the Iowa State team that won at Kansas, the Tennessee team that beat Kentucky and the BYU team that beat the Colorado team that has victories over Oregon and Xavier.
My point?
There is real substance to Gonzaga"s perfect record despite what some skeptics insist. It doesn"t guarantee the Zags will ultimately make their first Four Final, of course; single elimination tournaments are weird. But it does suggest a 33-0 record on Selection Sunday will make them the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Zags, needless to say, remain No. 1 in the Top 25 (and one). And, please, let me take a moment to apologize to SMU fans. Iowa State"s win at Kansas improved Iowa State"s resume to the point where I think the Cyclones have to be ranked. They now have five top-50 KenPom wins and just two sub-35 losses. But I couldn"t add them without removing somebody, and that"s why SMU got bumped from 26th. The Mustangs did nothing to deserve it. If this were the Top 25 (and two), they"d still be listed. So take solace in that, if you can. It"s just that SMU has similar losses but nowhere close to the kind of wins that Iowa State now owns.

HOUSTON Jessie Tuggle recently received a copy of an 18-year-old photograph from his son that hed never seen before.
It featured Tuggles then-5-year-old boy, Grady Jarrett, wearing a kid-sized version of his No. 58Atlanta Falcons jersey while doing the Dirty Bird dance with his elementary school teammates.
The old picture made Tuggle smile, remembering back to his own Super Bowl season with the Falcons in 1998. Jarrett, now a 23-year-old starting defensive tackle for Atlanta, is currently preparing to play in the game for the first time.

But just as jarrett wasnt in florida when Tuggles team lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII, Tuggle will be home in Alpharetta, Ga., on Sunday, watching the game on a 130-inch big screen. Nagging knee injuries have slowed him down, and he knew going to Houston would mean plenty of walking. Plus, he wants to afford Jarrett the chance to shine, away from the large shadow he"d already cast with the Falconsorganization.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play in the largest game on earth. The world is watching. This is his day. This is the Atlanta Falcons" day. It"s not my day, it"s his day, Tuggle told USA TODAY Sports in a phone interview. So I want to sit back and, from a distance for me personally I want to let him do his own thing.
Tuggle played 14 years as an inside linebacker for Atlanta, retiring after the 2000 season as the franchises leading tackler. Hes a member of the Falcons" Ring of Honor, and his picture is displayed prominently at the club"s training facility in Flowery Branch, Ga.
Being drafted by the team for which your father once starred could mean weighty expectations, but Jarrett said he doesnt feel it.
I never felt any kind of pressure to live up to any legacy or anything like that. I"ve always gone my own way, Jarrett told USA TODAY Sports.
He was raised in Conyers, Ga., by his mother, Elisha, and her husband, Grady Jarrett Sr., whom Jarrett calls dad. But Tuggle was always part of his life, too, as were his other children, Justin (a former Houston Texans linebacker) and Jessica, who played tennis in college.

Jarrett, the youngest of Tuggles three children, showed aptitude for football early, even though he was always too big to play with kids his own age. Yet ironically, his size would eventually become an issue for a different reason since Jarrett was regarded as too short to fit the mold of a prototypical defensive tackle.
Falcons defensive line coach Bryan c*x, an NFL contemporary of Tuggles, said Jarretts stature (6-feet, 305 pounds) was the biggest reason he fell to the fifth round of the draft in 2015.
Many teams probably realize it was a mistake to overlook him.
Despite being relatively light for his position, Jarrett routinely handles double-team blocks and racked up 48 tackles and three sacks from his interior post this season. What he lacks in sheer size, hes made up for in other areas, including an important lesson he learned while winning two state titles while wrestling in high school.
Its all about leverage. The lower man wins, Jarrett said. I wouldn"t say I have to make up for anything, it"s just what I do differently, as far as using power and quickness. I dont have any choice but to look at it as a positive.
Tuggle and Jarrett spoke by phone before the Falcons departed for Houston, and Tuggle tried to share some advice about what Jarrett could expect in his first Super Bowl.It took until the 12th year of Tuggles career to reach this stage, and he wants his son to cherish how special it is to be here just two seasons into his career. So far, that message seems to be sinking in. Jarrett purchased all of his 15 allotted tickets for family members on his mothers sideand is looking forward to their arrivalFriday.
And on Sunday, hes hoping to get the one thing his father never did: a championship. Nothing would make Tuggle more proud, both as a Falconsalum and a father.
I remember the Super Bowl in 1998. We lost, that"s all I remember about it. But we get another shot at it, a second time, Jarrett said.
I"m fortunate enough to be on this team that can go and try to finish it off. Its definitely an exciting time for the people of Atlanta.
