Ricki Lake, who rose to fame in 1988"s original "Hairspray" film," announced on Instagram Tuesday that her former husband Chris Evans had died at the age of 53.

She posted a touching tribute that provided few specifics (other than that his bipolar disorder was a factor), but illuminated their relationship, which was close even though they finalized their divorce in 2015.

Evans was a jewelry designer and met Lake in 2010. They eloped in 2012, but she filed for divorce two years later. After a short pause where it seemed they might reconcile, they finalized the split. Evans was Lake"s second husband; she was married to Rob Sussman from 1994-2004 and has two sons with him.

"We met through my best friend. He"s a nobody but he"s somebody to me," she told People magazine at the time. "He"s everything to me ... We just clicked. It just feels like he was the right one all along."

Celebrity chefs close restaurants in support of #ADayWithoutImmigrants

A Day Without Immigrants | The View

Sarah Spigelman Richter

Feb 16th 2017 11:30AM

The call for support for "A Day Without Immigrants" has hit the restaurant community with tremendous impact.

The social justice movement, held Thursday to show just how much our society depends on an immigrant-based workforce, started in Washington dc but has spread to the restaurant industry on a more national level.

SEE ALSO: Why you can"t get a Sweetgreen salad on Thursday in D.C.

Celebrity chefs like Jose Andres, Rick Bayless and Eric and Bruce Bromberg have closed many of their restaurants in support of the cause.

Wbtv reports Andres is currently in embroiled in a lawsuit with Trump over a restaurant lease. Andres says, "I am an immigrant myself and a Hispanic Mexican myself[...]We have people that are part of the DNA. They are working on golf courses maybe owned by Mr. Trump himself in restaurants, in farms."

Andres expects to lose almost $100,000 as a result of today"s closures, but the impact of the movement is more important to him than the cash.

Other big names in the food business, like Tom Colichio and Mario Batali, are vocally supporting staff who are not coming into work today to call attention to the cause.

The reaction on social media has been largely, if not entirely, positive.

Wbtv also reports,"Immigrants accounted for 7.1 million of U.S. restaurant workers in 2015, compared to 5.1 million who were born in the country."

And without any of them, it looks like the food industry in this country would be in dire straits.

It"s some food for thought.

Vince Young "dreams of playing more football," signs with Leigh Steinberg

Former University of Texas and NFL quarterback Vince Young has hired veteran agent Leigh Steinberg in hopes of rekindling his football career.

Steinberg made the announcement on his official Twitter account, noting that the 33-year-old former Davey O"Brien Award winner and Houston native "has dream of playing more football, being role model."

Young, 33, is considered a major long shot to play in the NFL again due to his age and inactivity.

Young, a former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowl selection, last played in the NFL in 2011 when he threw four touchdown passes and had nine interceptions for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In six NFL seasons, Young passed for 8,964 yards, 46 touchdowns and 51 interceptions for a 74.4 career passer rating.

A former Tennessee Titans starter and third overall pick of the 2006 NFL draft, Young has also played for the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns.

Young led the Longhorns to a national championship win over USC in the Rose Bowl. He finished second in the Heisman Trophy balloting to USC running back Reggie Bush.

Young played at Madison High School where he piled up 12,987 yards of total offense and was named Parade Magazine"s National Player of the Year as a Senior when he had 3,819 yards and 59 touchdowns.

The new Spring League has previously expressed interest in Young.

Young has been working at the University of Texas and with the Longhorn Network.

Young attended Steinberg"s annual Super Bowl party in Houston along with former Oilers running back Earl Campbell and Texans general manager Rick Smith.

Claude Julien: "I intend to keep the Bruins-Canadiens rivalry going"

AUDIO: Claude Julien on returning to Montreal

The trade deadline is less than two weeks away, and things are starting to get a little tense in the 30 situation rooms around the NHL.

Most of the teams scouting departments are either meeting this week, or have already met as each of the 30 teams try to figure out what to do with a severe lack of sellers on the trade market. Its the Colorado Avalanche that are asking for a boatload of assets (young NHL player, prospect and first round pick) for players like Gabriel Landeskog or Matt Duchene, or the Arizona Coyotes that it seems havent even really reached that level of pre-trade activity yet with the players they will be selling.

So now the NHL buyers on the trade market are waiting for a few other teams like perhaps a Detroit or a Dallas to also decide theyre going to sell rather than buy, and start freeing up some valued assets to switch teams ahead of theMarch 1trade deadline.

Its not happening yet, and one wonders how many trades there really will be at the end of the day with the NHL expansion draft coming this summer. But thats a story for another week of power rankings.

Without further ado here are this weekspowerrankings:

1.Washington Capitals (39-11-6, previous ranking: 1) The red-hot Capitals have won six games in a row and have outscored their opponents 30-12 over that span. They havent lost a game in February, so we should probably start the peaking too soon speculation in short order.

2.Minnesota Wild (37-13-6, previousranking: 2) The Wild are putting together a solid body of work, but they lost a playoff-style grinding 1-0 game to the Anaheim Ducks in their last contest. Theyd better hope thats not a preview of what awaits in the playoffs with a coach, Bruce Boudreau, thats had some pretty early exits.

3.Pittsburgh Penguins (35-13-7, previousranking: 4) The Penguins more than survived their time without Evgeni Malkin, and now theyre off and running once again. The Metro Division bracket is going to be brutal in the postseason.

4.New York Rangers (37-18-1, previousranking: 7) King Henrik is riding a five-game winning-streak and the Blueshirts have won six in a row as they seem to be saying, "Hey, dont forget about us in the Metro either.

5.Chicago Blackhawks (35-17-5, previousranking: 5) I did not have Artem Anisimov and Marian Hossa tied for the team-lead in goals midway through February, but the Blackhawks have made things work this season. Theyre making their move with a five-game winning-streak to move up the Central standings.

6.Columbus Blue Jackets (36-15-5, previous rank: 3) The Blue Jackets have lost four of six games in the month of February, and their high-powered power play hasnt been able to score in nine games. Boy, that epic winning-streak feels like a long time ago.

7.San Jose Sharks (34-18-5, previousranking: 6) The Sharks finally snapped a four-game losing-streak on a long East Coast road swing with a win in New Jersey, and now theyre happy to be back home once again.

8. Montreal Canadiens (31-19-8, previous ranking: 8) The Habs are clearly hoping that the re-run of The Claude Seasons is much better the second time around. Its a nice, cushy spot for a coach to be taking over a first place team, and Carey Price and Shea Weber give him some great pieces to install his system.

9.Anaheim Ducks (30-18-10, previousranking: 10) The Ducks had a nice win over the Wild, but they will lose Antoine Vermette after that wild slashing play with the linesman. What was Vermette thinking there?

10. Edmonton Oilers (30-18-8, previousranking: 9) The Oilers took their customary post-bye week loss to the Blackhawks, but then got back on the winning track with a slump-buster special against the Coyotes. Now the Oil should be ready to roll as Peter Chiarelli looks for some players to complement them on the trade market.

11.Toronto Maple Leafs (26-19-11, previousranking: 12) The Leafs looked a little shaky in back-to-back losses to the Blues and Sabres, but they completely stomped an Islanders team that had been playing much better under Doug Weight. That was impressive. The last loss to the Blue Jackets was not.

12.Ottawa Senators (29-19-6, previousranking: 11) Its great to see Craig Anderson back for the Senators, and even better watching him get a shutout win over the Islanders in his first game back for Ottawa. Good things absolutely happen to good people.

13. St. Louis Blues (30-22-5, previousranking: 15) The Blues have won five games in a row, and really appear to be streaking after the coaching change. You know its noteworthy when even the goaltending has taken a complete 180 degree turn for the better.

14.Nashville Predators (27-21-8, previousranking: 13) Heres something you dont see every day: A team like Nashville getting a hat trick from Victor Arvidsson and still losing a game to the Florida Panthers last weekend.

15. Boston Bruins (29-23-6, previousranking: 20) The Bruce Cassidy Era has brought optimism back to Bruins country, and a three-game winning streak just ahead of their bye week has them pushing up the standings.

16. Los Angeles Kings (28-23-4, previousranking: 19) The Kings have won six of the last eight games, and the two losses were back-to-back 5-0 losses to the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Boy, those East Coast swing road trips really bite for the West Coast teams.

17.Philadelphia Flyers (27-23-7, previousranking: 14) Jakub Voracek, claude giroux and wayne simmonds are a combined minus-48 for the Flyers this season. It is amazing that theyre even close to a playoff spot, never mind hovering around a wild card spot.

18.New York Islanders (25-20-10, previousranking: 18) The Isles are 8-3-2 since moving from Jack Capuano to Doug Weight, and theyve endured all of the questions about where John Tavares is going when he becomes a free agent. Thats not even counting the whispers swirling around their future mystery home when they finally leave the Barclays Center. But they keep hanging in there, and its a credit to them.

19.Florida Panthers (24-20-10, previousranking: 17) The Panthers have taken points in five of their last six games, and are finally making some semblance of a push with Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov. Is it too little, too late for them?

20. New Jersey Devils (24-22-10, previousranking: 21) Cory Schneider has started six games in a row for New Jersey, and has taken points in five of their last six games while truly stepping up between the pipes. The Devils are making as big of a move as theyre capable of, which isnt all that much right now.

21. Tampa Bay Lightning (25-24-7, previousranking: 26) The Lightning went into their bye week on a high note with a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets, but there is some serious issues with the Tampa Bay organization these days.

22. Carolina Hurricanes (24-22-7, previousranking: 22) The Hurricanes have lost two in a row and are dead last in the Metro Division, but theyve also got a ton of games to play as compared to most of the Eastern Conference. Thanks compacted schedule!

23. Buffalo Sabres (24-23-10, previousranking: 23) A couple of nice divisional wins over the Leafs and the Senators, but theSundayhome loss to the Canucks stings a bit. Time is slipping away from the Sabres at this point.

24.Calgary Flames (29-26-3, previousranking: 28) We could talk about all kinds of observations about the Calgary Flames, and the season theyve put together to this point. But they lost 5-0on Mondaynight to the Arizona Coyotes. The. Arizona. Coyotes.

25.Vancouver Canucks (25-26-6, previousranking: 27) Alex Burrows said hes watching ESPN for his sports highlights because he doesnt want to watch anything where they might talk about hockey trade rumors. Solid logic by the biting bandit.

26.Winnipeg Jets (26-29-4, previousranking: 25) One has to wonder what kind of changes are in store for a Winnipeg Jets team that should be much better than they are at this point. It probably starts with Paul Maurice and then will go from there.

27. Detroit Red Wings (22-25-10, previousranking: 24) The Red Wings have lost five in a row, but the real unfortunate development for the Wings was the passing of beloved, longtime owner Mike Ilitch over the weekend. Sincere condolences to the entire Detroit Red Wings family for their big loss.

28.Dallas Stars (22-26-10, previousranking: 28) The Stars have lost two in a row and Lindy Ruff says he wont be using Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn as distinct and separate centers up front. This is not surprising given the real lack of quality, all-around center play from Seguin over the course of his career.

29.Arizona Coyotes (19-29-7, previousranking: 29) Larry Fitzgerald tried his hand at hockey while fooling around at a Coyotes practice recently. Thats good news for the Coyotes franchise as they could use all the help they can get.

30.Colorado Avalanche (15-37-2, previousranking: 30) The 7-19-1 record at home? The minus-75 goal differential? The current four game losing streak for an Avs team that waved the white flag a long, long time ago? This team just stinks out loud.

Kutcher passionately testifies on his anti-s*x trafficking efforts

Ashton Kutcher FULL OPENING STATEMENT (C-SPAN)

The actor testified Wednesday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in a hearing on progress in combating modern slavery. Kutcher spoke on behalf of Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children, an organization he co-founded with then-wife Demi Moore in 2009 that builds software to fight human trafficking.

These days, he called his "day job" his work as chairman of Thorn and also as a father -- he and wife Mila Kunis welcomed son, Dimitri Portwood, in November, and daughter, Wyatt, is two years old. (He caught a red eye to Washington after a Valentine"s Day dinner with Kunis and will return home this afternoon.)

In an impassioned 15-minute opening testimony, Kutcher praised the committee for bipartisan cooperation on the issue, calling his opportunity to speak "one of the greatest honors of my life," his voice cracking multiple times as he recalled his work with victims.

"As part of my anti-trafficking work, I"ve met victims in Russia, I"ve met victims in India, I"ve met victims that have been trafficked from Mexico, victims from New York and New Jersey and all across our country. I"ve been on FBI raids where I"ve seen things that no person should ever see," Kutcher said. "I"ve seen video content of a child that"s the same age as mine being raped by an American man that was a s*x tourist in Cambodia. And this child was so conditioned by her environment that she thought she was engaging in play."

kutcher pressed the importance of using technology as a tool that can be used to disable slavery, citing specific progress.

"It"s working. In six months, with 25% of our users reporting, we"ve identified over 6,000 trafficking victims, 2,000 of which are minors. This tool has enhanced 4,000 law enforcement officials in 900 agencies. And we"re reducing the investigation time by 60%," he said of a software tool called "Spotlight."

Another tool called "Solis" has taken investigation times from dark web material from three years to three weeks, Kutcher said.

He spoke knowledgeably on the issue and called for specific actions, including additional funding for the technology, fostering public-private sector relationships, looking into the pipeline for victims, including working with the foster care system and the mental health system, and differentiating solution sets for s*x trafficking and labor trafficking with enforcement and legislation initiatives.

Committee Chairman Sen. Bob Corker called Kutcher"s work "inspirational," and "a true testament to entrepreneurialism and people taking a risk toward social good."

Corker, his fellow committee members, including Sens. Tim Kaine and Marco Rubio, and Kutcher all wore red X pins, a symbol calling awareness to the issue of modern slavery.

"Thankful for Ashton Kutcher and the work @thorn is doing to rescue trafficking victims. It was great to have him on the Hill today," Corker tweeted.

The former host of "Punk"d" got political at times, speaking out on the current political climate regarding the refugee crisis.

"When people are left out, when they"re neglected, when they"re not supported, and when they"re not given the love they need to grow, it becomes an incubator for trafficking, and this refugee crisis, if we want to be serious about ending slavery, we cannot ignore them, we cannot ignore our support for this issue in that space, because otherwise, we"re going to have to deal with it for years to come," he said.

Last month, Kutcher spoke out against President Donald Trump"s executive order on immigration:

"My wife came to this country on a refugee visa in the middle of the Cold War! My blood is boiling right now!," he tweeted, adding, "We have never been a nation built on fear. Compassion that is the root ethic of America. Our differences are fundamental 2R sustainability."

Asked by Rubio about sites like Backpage.com that can be used to provide an internet forum for transactional s*x, Kutcher said he"s been working to fight this for six years alongside sites like Craigslist and Village Voice, but when one site closes, another opens.

"It"s a game of whack-a-mole, right? And the only question we have is not relative to censoring it, it"s not relative to shutting down the internet, it"s relative to can we build the tools that are better than their tools to fight what"s happening?" Kutcher said.

The hearing wasn"t without it"s lighter moments: Sen. John McCain is not a member of the committee but came to thank its members for dedication to the issue, acknowledged the committee"s famous guest.

"Ashton, you were better looking in the movies," McCain said.

Kutcher blew the senator a kiss, saying his wife thought so, too.
