People may love their mothers, but for some reason many are forgetful when it comes to her day. In the past year, searches for the keyword term "when is mothers day" topped off in May2014 at 823,000. Those forgetful children found the answers, because by March 2015 searches for the same term fell to 301,000. Just a plain old search for the term "mothers day" in May 2014 reached1,500,000 searches on google.com; in March 2015 there were 550,000 searches.
The data pulled by iQuanti -- which helps advertisers use data to drive better results -- also analyzed google.comsearch results for the term "what day is mothers day," reaching 60,500 searches in May 2014, dropping to 8,100 searches in March 2015.
When comparing Mother's Day and Father's Day searchactivity on google.com, the iQuanti data recognized a 20% drop in the number of people looking for Father's Day gifts compared with Mother's Day gifts. Searches for the term "Mother's Day" averaged1.5 million in the month -- May 2014 -- of the holiday, compared with "Fathers Day" at 1.2 million searches during June 2014.
iQuanti's data from Google searches puts the average monthlysearch for the exact keyword match for "mothers day poems" at 27,100 from April 2014 to March 2015. "Mothers day flowers" averaged 12,100; "mothers day cards," 14,800; "mothers day pictures," 9,900;"happy mothers day quotes," 9,900; "mothers day brunch," 4,400; and "mothers day jewelry," 2,400.
Searching for "flowers" without the term "mother's day" averaged 673,000 searches from May2014 through March 2015, spiking in May 2014 at 1,220,000; and 1 million in February in 2015 -- no doubt related to Valentine's Day. "Flower delivery" didn't rack up as many searches, with May 2014topping off at 246,000 searches, and 450,000 in February 2015.
